OIL, 2016-

Moving from the all-enveloping architectural structures of Borromini into the two-dimensional world of painted illusional space displayed on a flat interior gallery wall, these works suggest another illusion by recycling the readymade dream of a painting and making a further analogy with the fluidity of oil as expressive medium. The drapery transforms and edits the painting; obscuring specific elements with the fabric (puncturing the picture plane); covering, diffusing or revealing the image with an ambiguous sliver of colour.
